13 freshman from Tokyo Management College (TMC) participated short-term training at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) for the purpose of studying English and cross-cultural exchange from July 10 for 7 nights and 9 days.

They stayed in the dormitory on the HPU campus, and studied about Hawaiian history and the culture, including English language lessons and group projects with HPU students.

On the weekend, the students experienced a homestay.

In addition, students of the Department of Child Education visited Nursery School “Little Seed” in Downtown Honolulu. The head teacher spoke to the students about preschool education here in Hawaii.

Even though it was a short program, the students enjoyed the nature of Hawaii and experienced various educational programs.

Fot almost all of the participants, this was their first time traveling to Hawaii. They said that they had a great experience abroad and would like to visit again. Some wished to do an internship in Hawaii next time, and another would like to study at an university in Hawaii.  It was a good opportunity to broaden their world perspective.

The HPU teachers, students, host families, also “Little Seed”, thank you so much to everyone who help to support the program.
